Degree Show Promotional Material.

Purpose:

George McClure and Dave Potts intend to create a multimedia solution, spanning both screen and print, for the purposes of promoting and cataloguing student’s work. This material is to accompany the University of Sunderland’s graduate design exhibition at The City Space, to be held on 17th June 2010.

Both George and Dave will collaborate on preliminary research to enable the creation of graphic identity that is suitable to span both print and web based applications. Then conduct research into forms of promotion that other higher learning design establishments have previously employed, as well as self-promotional material from industry based design studios. Finally using all the gathered information and studies, George will produce a print based solution for the exhibition, and Dave will produce a web-based platform to display current student works.

Collaborative Research Aims:

To research into current and past work that pertains to design exhibition promotional material.

A questionnaire will be constructed to discover current students opinions and expectations of the promotional material.

Communicate with The University of Sunderland’s Public Relations representative to find out any requirements and limitations imposed on the project.

Design an overall concept for the project that effectively communicates over print and web based applications.

Personal Research Aims:

Dave:
Investigate ways in which web based technology can be used to create an online gallery

George:
To produce practical research into traditional printing techniques.
To Explore hand-drawn typography
To generate a professional publication that will push the boundaries of conventional degree-show material.

Final Outcome:

Both George and Dave will produce a research blog to be submitted for assessment.

George will produce a print based solution for the University of Sunderland’s graduate design exhibition, promoting and cataloguing student’s work.

Dave will produce an interactive web based solution for the University of Sunderland’s graduate design exhibition to display all the student works.
